“France is Ready to Assist in the Construction of a Nuclear Power Plant in Kazakhstan, Says Ministry” The press service of the Ministry of Energy announced this, as reported by the “Adyrna” national portal.
According to the Ministry, a delegation led by Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev visited France on a working trip. The Kazakh delegation met and held negotiations with the heads of leading French companies in the nuclear sector.
During the visit, Satkaliyev held talks with major French organizations in the atomic sector, including large energy producers, EDF (operator of nuclear power plants), Framatome (developer and manufacturer of equipment for nuclear power plants), and Arabelle Solutions (supplier of turbine equipment for nuclear power plants).
Additionally, meetings were held with executives from Assystem, an international consulting company specializing in engineering services, project management, and digital solutions for nuclear power plants.
“The French side expressed its readiness to support Kazakhstan in implementing a nuclear power plant construction project. With approximately 70% of its electricity generated from nuclear energy, France is one of the world’s leading countries in this field,” the press service reported.
According to the Ministry, EDF has been included in the preliminary list of potential nuclear technology suppliers for Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, France will conduct research in the Balkhash Basin, where the nuclear power plant is planned to be built. The French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Geological and Mining Research Bureau (BRGM), in collaboration with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, will conduct a comprehensive study of the Ili-Balkhash Basin. These foreign organizations will assist in studying groundwater, monitoring underground water resources, and addressing exploration and development issues.
