According to reports, as a result of a large-scale U.S. military operation targeting Venezuela, the country’s president Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been “detained and expelled from the country,” the Adyrna national portal reports.

U.S. President Donald Trump wrote about this on the Truth Social platform.

Trump also announced that he will hold a press conference today at his Mar-a-Lago residence.

In the early morning hours, several explosions were reported in Caracas. Colombian President Gustavo Petro confirmed that U.S. air forces struck at least 11 targets, including the National Assembly building. A state of emergency has been declared in Venezuela.

Donald Trump has previously accused the opposing authorities of having ties to drug cartels and has spoken about the possibility of launching a ground operation. Meanwhile, Maduro had earlier stated that he was ready to cooperate with the United States.
