U.S. President Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his involvement in peacefully resolving the conflict between Israel and Iran. The initiative was put forward on June 24 by Republican U.S. Congressman Buddy Carter, according to the national news outlet “Adyrna,” citing Fox News.

In an official letter addressed to Jorgen Watne Frydnes, the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Carter highlighted Trump’s “extraordinary and historic role” in halting armed conflict and preventing the spread of nuclear weapons in the region.

“Just a few weeks ago, the world stood on the brink of a major regional war, but at this critical moment, President Trump showed courage and determination, managing to secure a limited ceasefire agreement,” the letter stated.

According to Carter, the agreement—initially seen as impossible—was made possible specifically because of Trump’s actions. He added that the former president’s initiative not only helped ease tensions in the Middle East but also “helped save thousands, even millions of lives.”

It’s worth noting that the government of Pakistan had previously proposed nominating Donald Trump for the Peace Prize as well.
