An attack was also carried out on Gorgan, a city in Iran inhabited by Kazakhs, according to the “Adyrna” national portal.

This was shared by Jafar Shadkam, a Kazakh living in Iran, on his social media account.
“The video was sent to me from Gorgan. I am currently in Mecca. They said they would evacuate the Kazakhs, but there has been no news. The situation seems to be getting worse,” he wrote.

According to him, many people who want to go to Kazakhstan and obtain citizenship do not have documents proving their Kazakh ethnicity.
As a result, visa issuance for them has also been suspended.

The Kazakh diaspora in Iran is mainly concentrated in the northeastern part of the country, in the city of Gorgan, located about 400 kilometers east of Tehran. This area is considered the region with the highest number of Kazakhs. Gorgan, with a population of over 300,000, is the capital of Golestan Province, which has a population of more than 1.6 million.

Kazakhs also live in other cities of Golestan such as Bandar Torkaman, Aq Qala, and Gonbad. In this region, Kazakhs live alongside Turkmens and Kurds.
The total number of Kazakhs living in Iran is estimated to be around 3,000 to 4,000 people.
