The head of state expressed his opinion on activists who criticize and comment on social issues, reports “Adyrna.”
In his speech today, President Tokayev touched on various issues.
“The public’s expectations of mayors are always high. This is a natural phenomenon. Criticizing the mayor’s work is a normal part of a democratic society. However, there are some overly active individuals who, under the pretense of criticism, go too far. Some people, considering themselves bloggers, have made it a habit to track every step of the mayor. There are even those who interfere with work and resort to threats. Of course, whether they live in villages, districts, or cities, all citizens want to live comfortably. It is the shared responsibility of mayors and local councils to create the most favorable conditions for citizens.
Every mayor must be open to dialogue with citizens and be able to engage in constructive discussions. However, there should be no incitement, disruptions, or violations of the law. No one should act above the law. The interests of the state must come above the personal interests of various populists. We must not be afraid of public criticism or making bold decisions and taking responsibility. It is crucial to pay timely attention to any pressing issue, including informational attacks. I repeat once again: the task of mayors and councils is to strictly follow state policies and implement them in line with the country’s interests. This is my vision of the key priorities in the work of council members,” said the President.
