Residents of Almaty region, Uyghur district ,appealed to Tokayev and they demanded to change the name of the district. "Adyrna" national portal writes about it.
"Dear Kassym-Zhomart Kemeluly! We legally demand the change of the name of the Uyghur district from the higher authorities. Our goal is not to cause an ethnic conflict or to start a fire between two nations. We only want to fulfill the promises made by the mayors such as Amandyk Batalov to change the name of the district. "We want to! Kazakhs are the hospitable people. But we are a nation that we do not let the other nation humiliate us(in my homeland). If the Uyghur nation considers this country their Motherland, if it is true that they are a nation that does not spit on the well they drink water from, let them contribute to the Kazakhization of the name of this district!", say local residents.
