Kyrgyz citizen Israzhidin Zaripov organized a large-scale environmental festival called “Jashyl Dem” (Green Breath) in the Kegety Gorge, reports Adyrna National Portal.

The main goal of the event was to protect nature and expand green areas. As part of the festival, more than 300 volunteers planted over 14,000 tree saplings.

According to Israzhidin Zaripov, this initiative was inspired by his childhood dream that resurfaced after his father’s passing.

“Since childhood, I’ve dreamed of planting a large forest. After my father passed away, I decided to fulfill that dream. I’m also deeply concerned about the smog problem in the capital,” he said.

The activist first held a similar event in the spring of this year, when around 100 people gathered to plant 1,000 pine trees. This time, he expanded both the number of participants and the variety of trees: 8,500 larches, 4,000 birches, and 1,500 Tian Shan firs were planted.

According to Zaripov, these tree species are well adapted to the natural conditions of Kegety Gorge. The soil there is fertile and moist, so no watering is required.

The festival brought together bloggers, students, community activists, and environmentally conscious citizens.
Employees of the Kegety Forestry Department supervised the planting process. Experts noted that, since the gorge’s soil is rich in minerals, about 70% of the planted saplings are expected to grow successfully.
