Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a law to introduce the death penalty for those convicted of raping minors in his territory, "Adyrna" reported. Azattyq Ruhy wrote about it.
"We do everything we can to protect children in Florida. "We believe that the death penalty is the only appropriate measure for child abuse, which is considered the most serious crime," the governor said.
The new law contradicts a 2008 US Supreme Court decision. Therefore, it allowed the death penalty for those guilty of raping minors if the crime resulted in the death of the child.
The decision was made by majority vote of the full composition of the Supreme Court.
