The number of teacher training universities has been reduced from 86 to 50. In general, 138 applications for licenses in pedagogical areas were returned, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.

It will be recalled that earlier the President instructed to take comprehensive measures to ensure the quality of training of future teachers.

Over the past two years, the Ministry has created various opportunities for universities to improve the quality of educational services. For example, since September this year, the salaries of university teachers have been increased, and the law allows for the maximum employment of existing and experienced professionals.

In addition, since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan has developed more than 300 educational programs adapted to the modern needs of the labor market. Academic independence was granted and a system of certification of graduates was introduced.

- The issue of qualification of teachers working with children in the future is very important for us. Schoolchildren should be taught by professionals who love their job. Therefore, in this regard, it is necessary to pay attention not to the number of universities that train teachers, but to the quality of their work. There is no compromise. There are universities in the country that provide quality training for future teachers. However, the results of inspections at some universities are disappointing and show that not all universities meet the same requirements. The Ministry provides time to identify the quality of educational services. If the university does not work to improve quality, we will take strict measures. In particular, we will deprive them of their licenses. For example, today there are few universities in the country that train teachers. However, teachers are trained by competitive universities. Over time, this will have a positive effect, - said Gulzat Kobenova, Chairwoman of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
