Darkhan Satybaldy Appointed as Mayor of Almaty, Reports “Adyrna” National Portal
By the decree of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Darkhan Amangeldyuly Satybaldy has been appointed as the Mayor of Almaty. He has been relieved of his previous post.
“By the decree of the Head of State, Darkhan Amangeldyuly Satybaldy has been appointed as the Mayor of Almaty. He has been relieved of his former duties,” the Akorda statement reads.
Darkhan Satybaldy was born on March 26, 1974. He graduated from the Akmola Agricultural Institute named after Seifullin and the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University. His specialties are economist-manager and lawyer.
Over the years, he has held various key positions in budget planning, financial oversight, science, national security, administrative management, and judicial system development. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the Mayor of Shymkent, from 2015 to 2017 as the First Deputy Governor of South Kazakhstan Region, and from 2018 to 2019 as a member of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
In recent years, he led the Turkistan Region and in January 2025 was appointed First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
Now, he is responsible for bringing the socio-economic development of Almaty, one of the country’s largest megacities, to a new level.
