Kazakhstani weightlifter Beibarys Yerseyit has become the world champion among juniors, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
The Weightlifting World Championship is currently taking place in Lima, the capital of Peru. The athlete won a gold medal in the weight category of up to 61 kg.
In the total of the two lifts, the Kazakh weightlifter lifted 262 kg (117+145).
The silver medal went to Turkish athlete Ramazan Yılmaz, who lifted 261 kg (108+153), while Russian Abubakar Tsakaev rounded out the top three with a total of 252 kg (113+139).
