On Sunday, China’s large-scale AG600 amphibious aircraft received its type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This marks the successful development of the aircraft and its entry into the market as the world’s largest civil amphibious aircraft by weight.
The developer of the AG600 amphibious aircraft, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), described the granting of this certificate as an important milestone in the development of China’s special-purpose aircraft and civil aviation sectors.
The AG600 is the first large-scale civil special-purpose aircraft developed in accordance with China’s civil aviation airworthiness standards.
AG600 aircraft are designed for emergency situations such as firefighting, search and rescue operations at sea and across the country, and to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property.
According to AVIC, the AG600 is the largest civil amphibious aircraft in the world by takeoff weight.
The aircraft’s length is 38.9 meters, its height is 11.7 meters, and its wingspan is 38.8 meters.
