In the first two months of this year, the export volume of fresh fruits and vegetables through the “Khorgos” road checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Northwest China) reached 110,000 tons, marking a 46.2% increase. This was reported by Adyrna national portal, citing data from Khorgos customs and Xinhua news agency.
Khorgos is located on the border between China and Kazakhstan and serves as a key gateway for perishable goods to major importers such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
To ensure the freshness of fruits and vegetables and facilitate smooth customs procedures, a special “green corridor” has been established at Khorgos customs.
“We are currently in the peak season for fruit and vegetable exports, and our company dispatches more than 70 heavy-duty trucks daily. Since the beginning of this year, we have exported 60,000 tons of fruits and vegetables, with a trade volume reaching 1 billion yuan (approximately 139 million USD),” said a representative of a local international trade company.
