Journalist and poet Dýissenali Álimakyn’s new book, “Kazakhs Who Discovered America”, has been published, reports the Adyrna national portal.
This work is the result of the author’s research conducted in U.S. archives while undergoing training at the University of Washington as part of the Bolashaq program.
The book compiles historical records related to Kazakhs found in American libraries. According to the author, each discovery was met with great excitement, and he was eager to share the findings with readers.
“This book, Kazakhs Who Discovered America, was written in Washington and published in Almaty. It includes records about Kazakhs preserved in U.S. libraries. Every piece of information I found about our history felt deeply personal, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Now that the book is published and on your shelves, my goal has been fulfilled—to let people know that there are documents about our country stored in distant archives,” the author wrote on his Facebook page.
The foreword to the book was written by Berik Uali, the current governor of the Abai region. The project received support from the Bolashaq program and the Zeinolla Sanik Cultural Foundation. The author also expressed gratitude to several public figures and intellectuals who contributed to the book’s publication.
This book presents previously unknown information about Kazakh history preserved in U.S. archives, offering valuable insights for researchers and those interested in the subject.
