President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on the spread of metapneumovirus in China, reports “Adyrna.”
“Everyone is talking about this new infection. I believe there is no need for panic. Therefore, we should continue to develop cooperation with China,” he said during a visit to the Student Residence of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
It is worth noting that metapneumovirus, classified as an acute respiratory viral infection, has also been detected in Kazakhstan. According to data from the Ministry of Health on January 5, 1,866 people have tested positive.
Metapneumovirus is primarily transmitted through airborne droplets and, less commonly, through direct contact. The main symptoms include coughing, runny nose, shortness of breath, convulsions, and headaches. There is no specific treatment, and symptomatic therapy is used.
