According to the national portal “Adyrna,” Nurkozha Kaipanov won the world championship in freestyle wrestling, which took place in Tirana.

In the final, our compatriot defeated Japanese wrestler Yoshinosuke Aoyagi with a score of 3-5.

It’s worth noting that five years ago, Kaipanov won the silver medal in the same weight category (70 kg) at the World Championships held in the capital of Kazakhstan.

Thus, Kazakhstan has produced a world champion in freestyle wrestling for the second consecutive year. Last year, Rizabek Aitmukhan claimed the title in the 92 kg weight class in Belgrade, Serbia.

This time, Nurkozha Kaipanov defeated Mitchell Finesilver (Israel) in the qualifiers, followed by clear victories over Nikolai Grahmez (Moldova) and Akaki Kemertelidze (Georgia). In the semifinals, he secured a clean victory against Abdulmajid Kudiev from Tajikistan.

With this, the World Championship in Tirana for non-Olympic weight categories has concluded. The Kazakhstan team won 1 gold and 2 silver medals.
