In the third quarter of 2024, nearly 14,000 gold bars with a total weight of 475.5 kilograms were sold in Kazakhstan. This was reported today by the press service of the National Bank, according to an ‘Adyrna’ correspondent.
The National Bank launched the program for the sale and purchase of refined gold bars to the public in 2017. Since the program’s inception, a total of 199,235 gold bars weighing 7.4 tons have been sold.
“Gold bars are available in five different weights: 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 grams. The most popular among buyers is the 10-gram gold bar, accounting for 24% of total sales with 48,629 bars sold. This is followed by the 100-gram bar with 47,227 units (24%), the 5-gram bar with 44,127 units (22%), the 20-gram bar with 31,612 units (16%), and the 50-gram bar with 27,640 units (14%),” the report says.
According to the National Bank, the largest number of gold bars were sold in Almaty (8,101 units, 58%), Shymkent (1,279 units, 9%), and Astana (1,243 units,9%)
