She was registered as the first female candidate for the presidency of Iran. This was announced by the Mehr agency on June 1, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

According to information, former Iranian MP and scientist Zohre Elahian became the first woman to be registered as a candidate in the extraordinary presidential election, which was established after the death of President Ibrahim Raisi in a plane crash.

"A ray of hope has appeared from the sky of Islamic Iran. I submitted documents to the election office as a representative of the women's society of my country," Elakhian wrote on his X page.

As reported by Mehr agency, 17 people applied to participate in the presidential election in three days.
