In North Kazakhstan, those who tried to deceive flood victims were caught, reports the national portal "Adyrna" with reference to KazInformation.
The press service of the police department said that people are sending warnings about a new Internet fraud scheme in WhatsApp chats that unite flood victims in Petropavlovsk.
"People waiting for compensation under it are asked to call on behalf of a certain government agency and write an SMS code — this is done to confirm that the person is on the list of flood victims. In fact, thanks to this code, fraudsters arrange large sums of credit from banks in the name of the victim," the police report said.
