Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, welcoming the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), noted the importance of his visit for further strengthening of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Agency.
- I am sure that your visit is timely from the point of view of progress in the development of our relations. You know that working with the Agency is a priority for Kazakhstan. We are very interested and highly appreciate your activity as the head of this important structure, - said Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed, including the strengthening of technical cooperation and the construction of nuclear power plants in our country.
The President emphasized the leading role of the IAEA in matters of peaceful use of atomic energy and strengthening of the nuclear safety regime.
Rafael Grossi thanked the Head of State for the warm welcome and highly valued role of Kazakhstan as one of the leaders and responsible participant in the process of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
- We do a lot together in different areas. I will be very happy to exchange opinions with you on a wide range of issues: from health care to your future program of nuclear energy development, said the Director General of the IAEA
