US President Joe Biden has decided to send 50 million dollars from the Federal Emergency Relief Fund to refugees and migrants affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey. This was stated in the memorandum distributed by the White House on Friday, the national portal "Adyrna" reported referring to the TASS agency.

"Considers that it is important for the national interest to provide assistance in the amount of not more than 50 million dollars from the fund to meet the urgent needs of refugees and migrants from the February 2023 earthquake in Turkey and Syria, including humanitarian aid to international and non-governmental organizations through contributions and other assistance. ", the US president noted

It should be reminded that earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred on February 6 in Kahramanmaras province in the south-east of Turkey with an interval of nine hours. Aftershocks and hundreds of aftershocks were felt in 10 provinces of the republic and neighboring countries, including the most affected Syria.

And on February 20, there were two earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.4 and 5.8 in Hatay province.

The number of victims in Turkey was 44,218.
