A 25-year-old citizen of Tajikistan drowned in the Pestroe lake in Petropavl. This was announced by the emergency department of the North Kazakhstan region, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
"Young people got on a catamaran and swam from the shore to a place with a depth of about 2.5-3 meters. The guy did not show any signs that he was drowning. The guys who were next to him first tried to save him. Then the rescuers who were 100-150 meters away came to help. Marat Muratov, the head of the civil defense department of the emergency department of the North Kazakhstan region, said at the briefing.
He noted that the incident took place in the part of the lake where swimming is prohibited.
"The rescuers tried to pull out the drowned man and revive him, but, unfortunately, they could not save the young man. The doctors and the ambulance team were also unable to save the life of the young man," said Muratov.
