President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev has extended his congratulations ahead of the upcoming National Dombra Day, reports Adyrna national portal.
“The dombra is a symbol of our national identity and a true treasure of our people. As the saying goes, ‘A true Kazakh is not a Kazakh, a true Kazakh is the dombra.’ It is especially heartening to see the growing interest among the younger generation in the dombra. Young people are showing deep appreciation for our traditional culture and respecting our customs. This is a very positive trend. Preserving the cultural heritage of our ancestors like the apple of our eye is the essence of true patriotism. Love for the homeland is the cornerstone
The Head of State also expressed gratitude to artists of traditional art. According to him, Kairat Baibossynov has been awarded the title “Hero of Labour of Kazakhstan”, while Aigul Ulkenbayeva and Aigul Kosanova have been named “People’s Artists of Kazakhstan.”
“I thank all those who continue to share the resonant sound of the sacred dombra with the world,” said Kasym-Jomart Tokayev.
For reference, National Dombra Day is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of July. It was previously announced that around 300 events will be organized across the country in honor of this day.
