Six veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Astana were each given a social payment of 5 million tenge in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory, reports the national portal “Adyrna” citing the official website of the capital’s administration.
In addition, citizens equated to WWII veterans under benefit categories — including those who served during the war, participated in the fight against Nazi Germany, worked during the Siege of Leningrad, were underage prisoners of concentration camps, and others with similar statuses — are being provided with financial assistance amounting to 45 Monthly Calculation Indexes (176,940 tenge).
Veterans of military conflicts in other countries — such as participants in peacekeeping operations on the Tajik-Afghan border, in Iraq, and in interethnic conflicts in Nagorno-Karabakh — are also entitled to a payment of 45 MCIs.
Meanwhile, home front workers, widows of deceased war veterans, and families of fallen military personnel will receive a one-time social payment of 15 MCIs (58,980 tenge).
All payments will be completed by the end of April.
It is worth noting that a government decree has approved a plan of celebratory events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory.
