More Than 40 Days After Toktasynov’s Passing, Zhakiyanov Files Another Lawsuit. Despite over 40 days passing since the death of Tolen Toktasynov, Galymzhan Zhakiyanov continues to file lawsuits against him. This time, the case is being reviewed by the Talgar District Court. Toktasynov’s lawyer, Gauhar Salimova, shared the details with Adyrna news.
The conflict dates back to last year when two prominent figures, Tolen Toktasynov and Galymzhan Zhakiyanov, who had been friends and collaborators for over 30 years, fell into a legal dispute. Previously, Toktasynov sold his share of a jointly managed company to Zhakiyanov, who later accused him of fraud and filed a lawsuit claiming unpaid funds.
Although court rulings favored Toktasynov, Zhakiyanov continued filing appeals. Even when Toktasynov was in critical condition, Zhakiyanov and his associate Tagir Sisimbaev submitted a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court, challenging earlier rulings by the Medeu and Almaty City Courts that dismissed Zhakiyanov’s claims.
On October 6, 2024, Tolen Toktasynov, a well-known public figure, passed away at the age of 61. However, less than 40 days after his burial, Zhakiyanov and Sisimbaev filed yet another lawsuit.
Lawyer: “Talgar District Court is Violating the Law”
“On October 2, 2024, the Talgar District Court issued a ruling in which Tagir Sisimbaev requested the nullification of the contract between Zhakiyanov and Toktasynov. Additionally, Quinton, an offshore company, also filed a claim. The case was transferred to Talgar after Zhakiyanov registered his residence in the district,” Salimova explained.
According to her, despite objections from Toktasynov’s legal team, the court proceeded with the case, even recognizing Alma Toktasynova, Toktasynov’s wife, as his sole heir without considering his children. “The Talgar court ignored prior rulings from higher courts, which had affirmed the legality of the contract. This decision is entirely unlawful,” Salimova stated, adding that an appeal has been filed.

Alma Toktasynova, Toktasynov’s widow, also criticized the Talgar District Court in a social media post.
“Zhakiyanov’s claim for unpaid funds under a 2019 agreement had already been dismissed by the Supreme Court in July 2024 due to procedural violations. However, Zhakiyanov attempted to bypass this decision by re-registering in Talgar and filing a new claim through Sisimbaev. Despite prior rejections, Quinton falsely claimed they only learned of the agreement in 2022, even though Zhakiyanov had been acting on their behalf since 2017,” she wrote.
Toktasynova questioned the integrity of the legal system, accusing certain individuals of exploiting loopholes and engaging in corruption. “How long will former judges, appointed by figures like ‘Khasan,’ continue to operate unlawfully in Talgar, enriching themselves at the expense of justice?” she asked.
The legal battle highlights ongoing concerns about corruption and systemic inefficiencies within the judicial system.
