A detained Kazakhstani woman reportedly attempted to escape from a hospital room using bed sheets, as reported by the Adyrna National Portal, citing Zakon.kz. She was in the room with a guard named Lieutenant J., an inspector-psychologist.

Around 4 a.m., the woman took advantage of the guard falling asleep, tied two bed sheets to the radiator, climbed out the window, and escaped. She was later recaptured and returned to the penal institution, according to the Supreme Court’s press service.

Following the incident, Senior Sergeant R., who was on duty outside the room, was dismissed. Disagreeing with his termination, he filed a lawsuit against the Criminal Enforcement Committee to be reinstated. Although local courts upheld the legality of the dismissal, the Supreme Court reviewed the case and ruled in favor of the sergeant.

“The plaintiff (male) was not required to guard the woman. According to regulations, if a female suspect or defendant is hospitalized, a female guard must be appointed. Furthermore, there were violations in the detention protocol. She was placed in a room without barred windows and with no separate door,” explained the Supreme Court.
