U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order on the withdrawal of the United States from 66 international organizations. The document was published on the White House website, Adyrna correspondent reports.

“The executive order instructs all executive departments and agencies to terminate participation in and funding for 35 organizations outside the UN system and 31 UN bodies whose activities run counter to the national interests, security, economic prosperity, or sovereignty of the United States,” the statement says.

In particular, the United States will withdraw from the Ukrainian Science and Technology Center, the agreement on carbon-free energy, as well as the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. Among the UN bodies from which Trump ordered withdrawal are the UN Economic and Social Council, the International Law Commission, the UN Democracy Fund, and the entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women.

According to the White House, these organizations address important issues “inefficiently or ineffectively.”

“It would be better to direct American taxpayers’ money toward supporting relevant missions through other means,” the U.S. administration noted in its statement.
