The 5th Asian Youth Para Games, held in Dubai, have come to an end. According to the final results, the Kazakhstan national team won a total of 68 medals, including 25 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze. In the overall medal standings, Kazakhstan finished 5th among 45 participating countries.
A total of 60 athletes represented Kazakhstan, competing in 9 sports disciplines. During the Games, Kazakh athletes won 34 medals in para swimming, 11 in para arm wrestling, 7 in para table tennis, 6 in para athletics, and 6 in para powerlifting.
In addition, the national goalball team claimed a gold medal, boccia athletes secured a silver medal, and the para taekwondo team won one silver and one bronze medal. One athlete represented Kazakhstan in para archery, but no medals were won in this discipline.
Commenting on the results, Kairat Seitbekov, Head of the Sports Department of the Training Center for Athletes with Disabilities, stated:
“Our athletes demonstrated strong performances at the 5th Asian Youth Para Games. This success is the result of joint efforts by the government, coaches, medical staff, and parents. Moreover, these Games were an important competition for young athletes, providing them with valuable international experience, opportunities to undergo international classification, and a chance to further improve their results.”
It should be noted that the 5th Asian Youth Para Games took place in Dubai, UAE, from December 10 to 13. More than 1,300 athletes from 45 countries competed for 481 medal sets across 11 sports disciplines.
