Kazakhstani figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov won a silver medal at the 2025 World Championships in Boston, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.
The men's individual skaters performed in the final program of the competition - the free program. After the short program, Shaidorov was in third place, and according to the results of the second day of competition, he improved his result and moved up.
In the free program, the Kazakhstani athlete scored 192.70 points, which was his personal record. He also improved his overall score to 287.47 points.
This result allowed the 20-year-old Shaidorov to win his first silver medal at the World Championships. He lost only to American Ilya Malinin (318.56). Third place went to Japan's Yuma Kagiyama (278.19).
Thanks to this achievement, Shaidorov has qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Previously, Sofya Samodelkina, who finished 14th in the women's competition, also received the license.
Shaidorov became the third figure skater in Kazakhstan's history to appear on the podium at the World Championships. Previously, this achievement was achieved by Denis Ten (silver in 2013, bronze in 2015) and Elizabeth Tursynbayeva (silver in 2019).
