A Creative Industry Development Fund will be established in Kazakhstan. It will be created as a corporate fund with the participation of the country’s leading creative and educational institutions. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balayeva, during a government meeting, according to the “Adyrna” national portal.
The fund will operate in four main areas, covering all stages from idea to finished product and service:
• Identifying talents (organizing competitions, creatons, mobile production centers, and searching for talents in the regions).
• Developing projects (accelerating and incubating startups, commercialization, attracting investments).
• Developing infrastructure (expanding a network of hubs, creating permanent art spaces, ensuring access to state property).
• Supporting exports (reaching foreign audiences, marketing and PR, protecting intellectual property).
The minister noted that such structures exist in leading countries around the world. In the United Kingdom, there is the Creative England fund, while in South Korea, the Creative Korea fund operates as the main driver of the Korean cultural wave.
The budget for Kazakhstan’s Creative Industry Development Fund will be formed through a 3% allocation from the national lottery operator’s revenue.
“In this regard, a venture division will be established within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), and a pool of management companies will be engaged to efficiently manage investments,” Balayeva stated.
