Yesterday, on March 5, Kyrgyzstan celebrated the traditional White Kalpak and National Clothing Day. This holiday was established in 2011 and has been widely celebrated every year, according to the “Adyrna” national portal, citing Xinhua.

Kyrgyzstan’s State Secretary, Suyunbek Kasmambetov, congratulated all citizens on the holiday and emphasized that national clothing is an integral part of the people’s culture and history.

“From the White Kalpak to our national attire, our traditional clothing is closely connected to our people’s history and preserved as an important element of our cultural heritage. Our main duty is to pass down the legacy, language, and traditions of our ancestors to future generations,” he said.

On this day, various events promoting national clothing were organized in schools, universities, and government institutions across the country. Additionally, flash mobs and national clothing competitions were held in cities and villages. Traditionally, men wore white kalpaks to honor their cultural heritage.

It is worth noting that in 2019, the White Kalpak was included in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
