In Kazakhstan, goods and services received by bloggers through advertising are considered income and are subject to taxation, reports the national portal Adyrna.

This was announced by the State Revenue Committee.

According to committee representative Dina Kusainova, barter agreements made without monetary transactions are also considered a source of income.

“For example, if a blogger promotes a café on Instagram and receives a free dinner in return, that dinner is considered the blogger’s income, and they must pay personal income tax on it. Taxes must be paid to the state budget,” she stated.

More than ten bloggers have acknowledged an additional 1.4 billion tenge in income and paid taxes accordingly.

The committee has also identified that a well-known blogger earned 1.2 billion tenge and has begun reviewing their tax records.

Previously, the State Revenue Committee sent tax notifications to Kazakhstani bloggers, totaling 53 billion tenge.

Following this decision, lists of bloggers and entrepreneurs who have not paid taxes began circulating on social media.
