Kazakhstani climber Dauren Kabi has ascended Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America. He carried a national musical instrument, the dombra, to the nearly 7,000-meter-high mountain, according to the “Adyrna” national portal.

Previously, Dauren Kabi suffered frostbite on several finger joints while climbing Mount Everest.

Aconcagua, standing at 6,961 meters, is located on the border of Argentina and Chile. It is part of the “Seven Summits” program, which involves climbing the highest peaks on each continent.

“For me, the dombra represents the spirit of the steppe and the symbol of the nomads. It has been an integral part of Kazakh culture for over 2,000 years. This time, we did not bring a flag to the summit because I believe planting a flag on another country’s land is an outdated tradition. However, the dombra symbolizes my connection to my culture. That’s why it was important for me to bring it safely to the peak,” said Dauren Kabi.
