Kazakhstani companies may be included in the EU’s 16th sanctions package. This was stated by the EU’s Special Representative for Sanctions, David O’Sullivan, as reported by the Adyrna national portal.
‘We are currently preparing the new 16th sanctions package. Kazakhstani companies may also be included in the list, but no decision has been made yet. Therefore, I want to emphasize once again that only companies with evidence of involvement in sanction violations will be included in this list,’ said the EU Special Representative for Sanctions, David O’Sullivan.
At the same time, O’Sullivan expressed satisfaction with the progress and dynamics observed in Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the EU in terms of adhering to sanctions. He also noted that the EU fully respects Kazakhstan’s stance of not joining the sanctions.
‘We do not intend to force Kazakhstan to adopt sanctions. Our aim is not to disrupt the legitimate trade relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. However, what concerns us is that some illegal business representatives may use Kazakhstan as a platform to bypass sanctions and later resell EU-made high-tech products, which are used for Russian weapons. That is, we are talking about goods and products that have been included in the sanctions list,’ explained the EU’s Special Representative for Sanctions.
