Singer and People’s Artist of Kazakhstan, Makpal Zhunisova, shared details about her life, reports the Adyrna national portal, citing Turkystan.kz.
The artist gave an interview to journalist Dina Tolepbergen’s program, where she revealed more about Zamanbek Nurkadilov.
“I never knocked on his door or begged him to marry me. I wasn’t even in love with him. I didn’t admire him either. Zake (Zamanbek) made his decisions and followed his wishes. He said, ‘Even if your mother agrees or not, I will take you.’ He had power and people around him whom we feared. At first, we were scared of him, but later, mutual respect developed.
When Zake lost his position, if I had left him too, people would have talked. They would say, ‘When he was in power, she was his wife, but now that he lost it, Makpal left him too.’ I stayed by his side during tough times.
Both of us grew up without fathers. He, like me, had nothing. He lost his power and had no wealth either. There was no reason to resent him for marrying two women; there are men with ten wives.
We started our family in 1991 and legally registered our marriage in 1998. Sometimes, when he came home angry, I would say, ‘You have children, go back to them.’ But he would reply, ‘No, I won’t go back.’ I didn’t stand in his way,” the People’s Artist shared.
