In Kyrgyzstan, a ban on corporal punishment for children under 18 is set to be implemented, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
This means that hitting or slapping children will no longer be permitted. In addition to Kyrgyzstan, this law is also expected to be adopted in eight other countries, including Uganda, Burundi, Sri Lanka, Panama, and the Czech Republic, according to The Guardian.
“This is a complete ban on corporal punishment. Similarly, in Gambia and Nigeria, this type of punishment has been eliminated in schools. These commitments were discussed at the United Nations’ first global thematic conference in Colombia,” the publication states.
