A monument-bust of the great Kazakh poet Abai Qunanbaiuly was unveiled in Tatarstan

A bust dedicated to the great Kazakh poet and philosopher Abai Qunanbaiuly was unveiled in Tatarstan, reports the “Adyrna” national portal. This was announced by the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan.

“The official unveiling ceremony of the bust of the great Kazakh poet and philosopher Abai Qunanbaiuly took place in the capital of Tatarstan,” the statement said.

The event was organized during the working visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Kazan for participation in the 16th BRICS summit from October 22-24, 2024.

The ceremony was attended by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balayeva, Tatarstan’s Minister of Culture, Irada Ayupova, Kazakhstan’s Consul General in Kazan, Yerlan Yskakov, the Chairman of the Tatarstan Writers’ Union, Rkail Zaydullin, as well as local residents and representatives of the national-cultural autonomy of Kazakhs.

The monument to the great thinker was installed at the intersection of Nazarbayev and Kachalov Streets in Kazan. The bust was created by Nurbol Kaliyev, a sculptor and member of the Kazakhstan Artists’ Union.
