The film, produced with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information and the National Film Center, won the grand prize in Azerbaijan, reports “Adyrna” national portal, citing Zhas Alash.

At the “Baku International Film Festival 2024,” the Kazakh film took home the top prize. The jury president, Golden Globe winner Siddiq Bayram, highly praised the Kazakh film Bauyrina Salu.

“I can say that Bauyrina Salu is one of the most meaningful films in Central Asia. It beautifully portrays the delicate psychology of a child’s soul and the darker side of national traditions. We believe this film, which tells the story of a simple rural life, will continue to reach new heights!” said Afghan director Siddiq Bayram.

The film was directed by Askhat Kuchincherikov and has also won the top prize at the Tulpar National Awards. Additionally, the film has been submitted to the Oscar committee for consideration.
