On September 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., East Kazakhstan Technical University named after Daulet Serikbayev will hold an expert discussion on the topic "Peaceful atom for the development of Kazakhstan: new opportunities of nuclear energy for the Republic of Kazakhstan."
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, announced in his annual address that the referendum on the construction of the nuclear power plant will be held on October 6 of this year. Experts in the field of nuclear energy and sustainable development will gather to participate in the discussion on the topic of "Peaceful atom for the development of Kazakhstan" on the basis of the STU.
During the event, the possibility of using peaceful nuclear power to achieve the long-term development goals of Kazakhstan was considered, and the potential of nuclear energy to ensure sustainable economic growth and energy security was discussed in terms of global climate change and the need to transition to cleaner energy sources.
The experts discussed the current state of nuclear energy in the world and prospects for the development of nuclear energy for Kazakhstan, radiation safety and nuclear energy, personnel training for nuclear science and technology, and human resource development.
