The authorities of Kazakhstan are demanding the use of the +7 number together with Russia, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
"The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan has prepared a government resolution "On the signing of an agreement on the joint use of +7 numbering between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of Russia", the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan has prepared.
As noted, the agreement between the communications departments of the two countries is currently in force.
"In 2021, international phone code +997 has been reserved for Kazakhstan to get a personal code. During the discussion of the transition to the new code with the communication operators, it was said that the transition to the new code is possible, but it will cause a number of financial and technological problems. Also, all subscribers of domestic communication operators should update their data in all services for receiving state and banking services, social networks and various applications," explained the department.
Accordingly, according to the CDC, "there is a high probability of failure and negative experiences during the transition period."
"In this regard, for the convenience of the citizens of the RK TSIAM, negotiations were again conducted with the International Telecommunication Union, and a decision was made to leave the +7 international code unchanged. In this regard, the issue of creating a new agreement on the use of numbering between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation was worked out. Currently, we are waiting to receive a Note from the Russian Federation on the approval of the project," the report said.
