A sharp rise in the water level in the North Kazakhstan region is expected to exceed the threshold level, reports the national portal "Adyrna" with reference to the press service of the Prime Minister.

"Today, on the instructions of the Head of State, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, went to the North Kazakhstan region to regulate flood control works. He held an emergency meeting on the flood situation in the region with the participation of the regional akim Gavez Nurmukhambetov and heads of state institutions. The head of the Department of Emergency Situations of North Kazakhstan region Erik Sarybayev, the director of "Kazhydromet" SKOF Kymbat Mergalymova, the director of the branch of NC "Kazavtozhol" JSC Akylbek Kabyldin reported on the current situation of the flood. There is a serious flood situation in the region. The water level is expected to rise sharply above the critical level. Since April 5, water has been overflowing from the roof of Sergeev Reservoir. The first floods near the city of Petropavlovsk are expected in six days, and the peak of the flood will occur at the end of April, said the report on Saturday.
