President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev announced the change of the coat of arms at the National Congress held in Atyrau, the correspondent of "Adyrna" reports with reference to Akorda.
The head of state stated that our national identity is clearly reflected in state symbols.
"Last year, I said that it is necessary to systematize the symbols of the regions and bring them to a single standard. In addition to the peculiarities of that region, the nature of the country should also be observed from the symbols. Now real work is being done in this direction. Specialists, experts and active citizens participate in this. At the same time, I know that they are talking about modernizing all our national symbols.
There is no fault in our Blue Flag. It clearly depicts the unique nature of the country. Our anthem also shows the real national spirit. The Kazakh national anthem is sung all over the world. It has become a good tradition to greet the New Year with a hymn in the company of our loved ones. In a word, both the words and the melody of our national anthem are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people," he said.
According to the President, many compare the current coat of arms to the coat of arms of the Soviet era.
"And there are critical comments about our national emblem. It is similar to the coat of arms of the Soviet era. They say it is too eclectic and complicated. Such thoughts are expressed not only by active citizens who are indifferent to the country's affairs, but also by specialists. Reasonable judgments should not be ignored.
In case of mutual agreement, a special commission can be created. This commission will consider the issue comprehensively and hold a public discussion. Then an open competition for the design of the new Coat of Arms of Kazakhstan will be announced," added Tokayev.
