Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev  confirmed that the price of liquefied gas would increase in the coming months after the extended consultation of the Government, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

"Even now, we can see that the re-equipment of the car so that it consumes liquefied gas instead of gasoline and diesel is gaining momentum. Moreover, gas production in Kazakhstan is quite limited. You know that we cover the domestic demand by submitting a request to Tengizchevroil every year and redirecting gas intended for export to the domestic market. Previously, this was a small amount, but now it is increasing - tens of thousands of tons of gas are diverted just to cover the domestic deficit. The same problem, everything comes down to price. The original cost is 70 tenge per liter, but now it is sold at 50 tenge. Companies are working at a significant loss. In comparison, the price of gas in Russia is 2 times higher - 120 tenge. 177 tenge in Tajikistan. In them, the price is really formed according to the law of the market. If we look at the experience of the world, in the countries that produce excess gas, they set a price of 70% of the price of gasoline to encourage the use of liquefied gas as a vehicle fuel. This can be considered a reasonable economic mechanism. And we have a gap. Citizens who are now switching their cars to gas should understand that tomorrow the price will also increase. There is a reason for it. There are also economic factors associated with the gas shortage. In the future, gas may be imported at higher prices. Or it will be necessary to direct our own gas to the domestic market at the export price," he said.
