If with the presidential elections it was initially clear and understandable who was the leader and who would eventually be elected president, then with the parliamentary elections the situation is different - there are great opportunities for maneuver, for updating the political palette, for the emergence of new parties and individuals. For here the fate of the promises of the head of state on political reform, on the creation of real political competition in Kazakhstan is being decided.

The doors of parliament will open for oppositionists as well

“We are creating conditions for a civilized discussion between parties and public discussion. All civil society institutions will play an important role in the new political system,” Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said, also supporting the expansion of the powers of local executive authorities.

The head of state promised that the doors of the parliament would also be opened for the oppositionists. “We talked about the fact that if I am elected president, new parties will receive registration, this process is underway. Of course, we create favorable conditions. I believe that before the start of the parliamentary elections, however, several parties will be able to fulfill the appropriate conditions and receive registration. I think it's in our interest. In addition, parliamentary elections will be held under a new mixed system. I expect that as a result of the elections, interesting people will get into the legislative body of our country, including those representing opposition views,” Tokayev said.

In other words, the purpose of the current parliamentary elections is not to replace the "old" deputies with new ones from the three parliamentary parties with a significant majority from the party in power, as was the case during the reign of the first president. It is necessary to destroy the well-established system of parliamentary elections that existed before: without political competition, with the dominance of the notorious ruling party with huge administrative resources, when regional mayors headed regional branches, etc.

As you know, early parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan will be held in the first half of next year. According to unofficial data, the elections will be held in March, but the exact dates will be announced by the President of the country. Naturally, after that a new government will be formed.

After the tragic January, a new parliament is really needed - after all, the internal political situation has noticeably changed, the election legislation has changed, the Constitution has changed, the article on Elbasy has disappeared from it, etc.

And in many ways, the new parliament, which will be elected according to the new rules, will be much more efficient, more competitive, it will include new parties and civil activists, there will be a pluralism of political views and opinions - as you know, truth is born in discussion, dispute. And as such, the future supreme legislative body will enjoy the confidence of the people.
