This holiday has been celebrated since 2014. In March 2003, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring June 23 as Civil Service Day. This practice was introduced in Kazakhstan 10 years later, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
By the Decree of the President, June 23, 2013 was established as the Day of Civil Servants in Kazakhstan. According to the rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President Erlan Abil, last year more than 68 thousand civil servants were trained in Kazakhstan.
As of 2021, the number of civil servants in Kazakhstan was 96,910. This means that for every 196 inhabitants there is 1 civil servant.
