A strange similarity has been discovered between our planet and another one located more than 300 light-years away from us.

New details have been revealed about WASP-189b, a scorching exoplanet with temperatures so high that metal can evaporate on it. At first glance, it seems that there is nothing in common between this object and the Earth, but this is not the case. The results of the intriguing study are published in the journal Nature Astronomy.

Scientists were able to study the gas envelope of the exoplanet using the HARPS spectrograph at the La Silla Observatory in Chile. It turns out that it contains iron, chromium, vanadium, magnesium, manganese and titanium oxide. The latter absorbs ultraviolet (short-wave radiation) and hints that there is a layer similar to the ozone layer on Earth in the atmosphere of an exoplanet.

WASP-189b orbits a bright star of spectral class A. The mass of the find is approximately 2 Jupiter masses, the radius is 1.6 Jupiter radii. It makes one revolution around its star in 2.7 days.

The most remarkable thing about the exoplanet is the temperature on it, which is estimated at 3200 degrees Celsius. This makes it one of the hottest of all known exoplanets to date. Even despite the similarity of atmospheres, it is unlikely that humanity will ever be able to call it home.
