Kazakhstan participated for the first time as an evaluating country at the 100th plenary session of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), held in Strasbourg. This was reported by the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, according to “Adyrna.”
“The 100th plenary session of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) took place at the Council of Europe headquarters. Within the framework of this session, the Republic of Kazakhstan took part for the first time as an evaluating country during the Fifth Evaluation Round, aimed at assessing the implementation of anti-corruption recommendations,” the statement said.
By decision of the GRECO Secretariat, Kazakhstan was tasked with evaluating the implementation of recommendations
related to the prevention of corruption in law enforcement agencies of the Czech Republic.
Finland was recognized as a partner country for the evaluation and was responsible for analyzing the implementation of recommendations in the central government bodies of the Czech Republic.
Kazakhstan was represented at the session by Sagynysh Ayaganova, First Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Agency’s Department for Akmola Region.
She presented the results of the analysis conducted as a national expert, based on which the report was approved.
The statement also noted that special attention was given to the upcoming Sixth Evaluation Round. In this round, issues of preventing corruption at the regional level will be considered with the participation of civil society.
“The first evaluations in this phase will take place in Estonia, Slovakia, Luxembourg, and Slovenia. Additionally, the possibility of Kazakhstan participating as an evaluating country in the Sixth Round was discussed. This would be a logical continuation of our country’s consistent policy to strengthen integrity and transparency on the international stage,” the report stated.
