On the eve of Eid al-Adha, Uzbekistan sent 183 tons of food to Afghanistan. The humanitarian cargo was delivered to the neighboring country on the instructions of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to the press service of the Surkhandarya regional administration, as reported by the national portal “Adyrna.”
The humanitarian aid, sent on behalf of the Uzbek people, is a gesture of support and tolerance toward their neighbors. The cargo included flour, rice, sugar, pasta and confectionery products, vegetable oil, instant food, red beans, and mung beans.
The food was delivered to the city of Hairatan in Balkh Province. The cargo was handed over to the Afghan side on the premises of the “Asteras” company. The handover ceremony was attended by Ismatilla
Irgashev, the Uzbek President’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ulugbek Kosimov, Governor of Surkhandarya Region, Nurulkhodi Abuidris, Deputy Governor of Balkh Province, and other officials.
The Afghan authorities expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan for the humanitarian aid and congratulated the Uzbek people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
It is worth noting that Uzbekistan regularly provides humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. For instance, in March, Tashkent sent approximately 200 tons of food, and in May, it supplied agricultural seeds. In return, Kabul also strives to reciprocate. In the same month of May, 16 trucks carrying white marble from Afghanistan arrived in Uzbekistan for use in the construction of the Imam Bukhari complex.
