Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy, Almasadam Satkaliyev, responded to a question regarding the timeline for the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant (NPP), Adyrna national portal reports. According to the minister, the design phase of the NPP will take 2-3 years, following international practice. “The design process can take up to three years. After that, the ‘concrete pouring’ phase will begin, meaning actual construction work will commence. We may start construction within two years, but the main facility’s construction will only begin once the feasibility study is fully completed, project documentation is prepared, and all necessary approvals from government authorities are obtained,” the minister stated. Previously, it was officially announced that the NPP would be built in the village of Ülken, Zhambyl district, Almaty region. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
