Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced that a state of emergency has been introduced in the country, "Adyrna" national portal reported with reference to the Israeli Ynet News portal.
It was reported that members of the Cabinet of Ministers declared a state of emergency for 48 hours. It was said that it may be extended in the future.
It was caused by preemptive strikes by the Israeli military against targets of the Shiite Hezbollah movement in Lebanon.
"'State of emergency' is a legal term used in emergency situations. This regime is a period in which the authorities give more power to civilians in order to optimize the country's defense forces," the publication added.
